Villa Tramonto is located on one of the gentle hills that are typical of the countryside around the small provincial town of Menfi. There are wonderful views over a undulating sea of vivid green vineyards that roll softly down to the sea, and the colours at sunset are out of this world (indeed, tramonto is the Italian word for sunset).

The villa is surrounded by a large garden planted with typical Mediterranean flora – palms, agaves and oleanders – and a lush English-style lawn which embraces a beautiful pool, with a large solarium (Italian for a space devoted to sunbathing) and a shady gazebo roofed with palm fronds – the perfect place for an evening drink admiring the intense colours of a typical Sicilian sunset.

The villa comprises two blocks linked by a spacious living room with an elegant lavastone fireplace and large windows that give you the sensation of being at one with the garden, pool and the marvellous views.
Connected to the living room is a small but efficiently-equipped and designed kitchen.
The two blocks house the bedrooms. In the first are two double bedrooms that share a bathroom, and in the second, which opens straight onto the garden, are three bedrooms (one with bunkbeds), one bathroom and a small living area.

Behind the villa is a spacious BBQ area, along with an extra loo, shower and laundry room.
Villa Tramonto is just a few kilometres from the golden sands of Menfi beach – which has been awarded a blue flag by Legambiente (Italy’s most important environmental organisation) for the past sixteen years.

We like

Admiring the magnificent panoramic views over gently rolling vineyards to the blue blue sea.
Relaxing in the pool or lazing under the gazebo in the warm glowing light of sunset.
The wonderful unspoilt sandy beaches.
Tasting wines at one of the area’s numerous (and prestigious) vineyards.
Visiting the amazing Greek temples of Selinunte, perched right about the coast – surely one of the most beautiful ancient sites in Europe!

We think

The layout of bedrooms and bathrooms makes the villa idea for two families, or for groups of friends who do not mind sharing a bathroom.

Things to do

Some things not to miss in you are staying at the Villa Tramonto.

  • The fantastically sited temples of Selinunte.
  • The historic town of Mazara del Vallo whose centre is reminiscent of an oriental kasbah – oh, and don’t miss the statue of the Dancing Satyr, discovered by fishermen, and now with its own dedicated museum.
  • The medieval town of Erice.
  • A day at Rocco Forte’s Verdura golf resort.
  • Menfi beaches.
  • A day at La Pineta  at Marinella, a great lido with a very good restaurant.
  • Visits and tastings in the numerous wineries and olive oil farms.
