Taormina has plenty of fabulous villas, but Villa Tauro is truly special, perched on a ridge of Monte Tauro, directly below the town, with views — from every room, the swimming pool and the panoramic terrace — that stretch from the beach at Letojani to Capo Sant’Alessio. A flight of 100 steps leads directly to the centre of town, and the funivia that connects the town with the sea. This is an unbeatable combination – the peace and luxury of a villa, views you will never forget, yet with the town (famous in Italy for its vibrant night-time movida) and beaches easily reachable without there being any need to hop in car.

A fireplace framed by a massive 18th century stone portal, and hundreds of rare majolica tiles (used on the treads of the stairs and in the bathrooms) add a bold sense of history to this modern villa, without for a moment compromising its air of light maritime minimalism. The fireplace, surrounded by random antique majolica tiles and framed by the antique portal, is the centrepiece of the huge living room, with terracotta floor, white and cobalt blue walls, white sofas and huge glass windows opening onto the terrace and pool. There is also a gorgeous Sicilian kitchen, with huge fridge, double range and zinc fittings, opening on a luminous dining area.
A staircase leads to the upper floor, with three double bedrooms. One has an ensuite bathroom, while the other two share. All the bedrooms open onto a large panoramic terrace. There is also a studio, separate from the main house, with double bedroom, bathroom, and small kitchenette with direct access to the pool.
the last dependance, with sea view; accesses from the lawn and it has always a little living room, ensuite double bedroom, Kitchenette.
From the swimming pool, a flight of stairs leads down to a first dependance with a double ensuite bedrooms and after to a balcony shaped like the bridge of a ship, where two further double bedrooms, each with a kitchenette, small living room and bathroom, with a heated Jacuzzi and plenty of space outside for lounging in the sun.
The villa outdoor spaces are beautifully designed to make summer living effortless and enchanting. There is an outdoor dining area, shaded by billowing white drapes; elegant loungers on the lawn and around the swimming pool; sofas, armchairs and poufs in the relaxing zone near the pool; and as well as the pool, a huge Jacuzzi.

It is good to know that the villa, being near the cable car, is visible from the latter when it moves toward Mazzarò beach.

We like

Spending a holiday in what can only be described as a true corner of paradise, surrounded by the lush beauty of the Taormina coast, with all the comforts a villa could possibly offer its guests.
Swimming in the pool, or lounging in the Jacuzzi at sunset, sipping a drink while enjoying a panoramic view of one of the most outstandingly beautiful parts of Sicily.
Walking up to town in the evening, to go to a club or bar, or catch one of the films, jazz or pop concerts, dance performances that form part of the summer season at Taormina’s ancient Greek theatre.

We think

The villa is ideal for anyone seeking a holiday in a place of outstanding beauty with an international jetset nightscene on the doorstep.
Taormina is also one of the best organized holiday spots in Sicily, with a smorgasbord of activities on offer, ranging from a jeep or quad-bike trip up Etna, to any watersport you care to think of.
