Villa Liolà takes its name from a comedy by Sicilian playwright Luigi Pirandello.
The villa, like the play, with its infinite views and natural vibe transmitting peace of mind, is a place to disconnect from reality. The villa is best enjoyed with a fresh drink by the stunning Sicilian sunsets surrounded by shades of blue.

Liolà is located in the protected area of Plemmirio, a few kilometres from Ortigia, the island that forms the historic centre of the city of Siracusa. Renovated in a wonderfully contemporary style using high quality materials, the villa is well equipped and extremely comfortable. It rises above the coast, surrounded by a large garden with low vegetation and bushes — ideal for enjoying the natural landscape from every point of the house.

The ground floor comprises a single, bright open space with large sliding windows that open to a portico that looks out at the sea. An ingenious double-sided fireplace divides the space into two areas, one a living area with sofas and TV, and the other a splendid dining area with a large oval table able to comfortably accommodate 12 seated people. From the dining room there is direct access to a hyper-equipped kitchen, separated from the living area by a glass window. A guest bathroom can also be found on the ground floor.

The upper floor is accessible through a staircase, which leads to another panoramic living room equipped with a bar and sofas. The upper floor comprises also of the night zone, which has four bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom.

Perhaps the most magical aspect of Liolà is the opportunity it gives guests to spend as much time as they like to relax beside the pool, as they follow the crystalline sea in all its moods. The infinity pool, irregularly shaped to follow the form of the land, has a rock feature and a tiny beach where you can lie on a lounger with paradisiac views of the coast. Behind the swimming pool, trees provide some very welcome summer-time shade.

Things to do

Liolà is located in the Plemmirio reserve. An area whose rich Mediterranean vegetation, unique coastline and fine seabed of both naturalistic and archaeological interest, is a protected nature reserve, about 15 minutes driving from Siracusa.

  • The island of Ortigia (Siracusa) now linked to the mainland by a short bridge, was the first part of Siracusa to be settled, and is today a jewel of Sicilian Baroque, though also retaining fascinating traces of its ancient Greek and medieval past.
  • The most interesting area on the mainland is the archeological zone, which includes one of the largest Greek theatres in Italy, whose excellent acoustics you will experience if you manage to attend the annual season of ancient Greek drama.
  • The incredible Baroque towns of the Val di Noto (also with UNESCO world heritage status)
  • The captivating nature reserve, L’Oasi di Vendicari.
  • Wine tasting and visit at Buonivini of Planeta winery.
  • The fisherman village of Marzameni.
  • The Baroque Historic centre of Catania.
  • Etna Volcano and Taormina about  one hour driving
