Glamorous, unique and prize-winning eco villa
with infinity pool and luxuriant gardens

Contemporary and cutting-edge, this villa is not only highly luxurious, but is an ‘intelligent building’ that has won prizes in Italy and abroad for its energy efficiency – it boasts its own photovoltaic plant and miniature wind-farm. It sits at the heart of an extensive country estate above the seaside resort of Capo d’Orlando.

Surrounding the villa is a beautifully tended garden of rare, exotic plants, interspersed with furnished terraces, romantic flowering pergolas, and secluded corners where you can read in peace or admire the view. There is a magnificent infinity pool (14×5 metres) which can be illuminated in various colours. as well as a Jacuzzi and a small tub for children. Le Tartarughe mean tortoises in Italian, and exploring the garden you will understand why — the swimming pool, fountain and various hidden spots all feature carved stone tortoises!

As well as the garden there is a huge orchard with citrus, persimmon, peach, pear, mulberry and apricot trees where guests can pick their own fruit. There are also chickens – ensuring a constant supply of fresh, organic eggs. The villa is built in four floors, connected both by an internal staircase and a lift.

Occupying the lowest floor is a huge reception area and entrance, with high ceiling, a fireplace made of local stone, and, best of all, magnificent views through an immense window over the sea to the Aeolian Islands. There is also a TV area here, with a 70 inch screen satellite/3D TV. Next door is a large dining room, also with a thermal fireplace, with another huge glass window opening onto a patio. There is also a guest bathroom, and a super-accessorised kitchen facing the outdoor dining/barbeque area.
On the first floor there is another huge living room opening onto a small loggia (with more panoramic views) and two bedrooms each with its own ensuite bathroom.

The second floor reveals another two bedrooms . Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and spacious built-in wardrobe, and one has a small private terrace. There is also a fitness area with exercise bike, tapis roulant, Turkish bath and a state-of-the- art shower featuring a beguiling range of chromotherapy, aromatherapy, ‘emotional’ and ‘Amazonian’ options.

The top floor is an attic occupied by a huge suite, its ceiling illuminated by different coloured LEDs to create the sensation of sleeping under a magical starry sky.

We like

This is a super-glamorous romantic villa, and totally original — we love the starry sky bedroom, Turkish bath and aromatherapy shower!

This villa has a fantastic kitchen — it’s a really inspiring place to cook, especially as there is fresh organic produce from the estate.
Lying in the infinity pool looking out to sea as the sun sets is pure magic.
Our children loved collecting fruit and eggs themselves every morning, but there is a gardener to do it if you prefer.

The central computer which controls the villa’s lighting system, its shutters and security system. Guests with a technical bent may make use of it if they wish. However, the electronic commands can be temporarily over-ridden if settings are not to a guest’s pleasing.
One double bedroom has a circular bed – so we have described it as a single room – although there is room for two people!
In many rooms there are USB sockets….that made recharging phones and tablets SO easy! No need to bring adaptors if you are coming from abroad!

We think

The super-efficient heating system and state-of-the-art insulation mean that this villa is a perfect choice for a comfortable and luxurious winter holiday.

The villa is large, and ideal for several generations of a family, or for a group of friends, but is is so sensuous and indulgent…hard to think of a better choice for a honeymoon or romantic getaway.
