The garden is remarkable, insulated from street noise and absolutely private – a rarity in Mondello – with ample green spaces, areas for outdoor conversation and dining, and, bang in the centre of the lawn, an excellent swimming pool (14.8 X 7.6m) which, with all the rooms opening on to it, is the true focus of summer life in the villa.
Le Giare has two floors, connected by a rather pleasing helicoid staircase.

On the first floor, at garden level, is a huge living room with fireplace, a dining room, a guest bathroom, a study and a large kitchen which opens straight onto the outdoor barbeque/dining area.

The first floor is home to two double ensuite bedrooms, one with its own private little terrace, and a further double and twin which share a large bathroom with a lovely spacious shower. Furnishings are light, fresh and elegant – perfectly reflecting the mood and lifestyle of a summertime villa.

We like

The absolute peace and tranquillity of the villa, despite the fact that beach, promenade, restaurants, bars, and grocery shops are all in easy walking distance
Mondello’s fine sandy beach, with its many and varied lidos.
Taking a boat trip to the magical nature reserve of Capo Gallo (with a few memorable swims in the crystalline waters).
Having Palermo just 8 kilometres away, with its fascinating historic centre, museums and monuments and vibrant street- and night-life.

We think

The layout of the villa makes it ideal for groups of family or friends.
The villa is also perfect for anyone who wants a seaside holiday without needing to use a car.

Things to do

Some things not to miss in you are staying at the Villa Le Giare.

  • Mondello’s most striking and characteristic buildings are the Liberty or Art Nouveau villas built by the wealthy and aristocratic Palermitani of the early 20th century.
  • Monte Pellegrino, overlooking the bay of Mondello, was considered to be the most beautiful promontory in the world by the poet Goethe.
  • the Sanctuary of Saint Rosalia, Palermo’s much-venerated patron saint.
  • the Parco della Favorita, onetime hunting reserve of the Bourbon royal family, The park includes a Chinese-style Casina. Also bordering the park is the Villa Niscemi (whose owners also donated land to the King), evocatively described in the book These Happy Summer Days by Fulco di Verdura. The villa can be visited.
  • The natural reserve of Capo Gallo
  • The historic centre of Palermo, one, togheter Rome and Barcellona; the largest in Europe
  • Marvel at the Palazzo dei Normanni, home to the most splendid court in medieval Europe, with the sumptuous jewel-box-like mosaics of Cappella Palatina at its heart.
  • Visit the Galleria Regionale della Sicilia at Palazzo Abatellis, where highlights include a haunting white marble portrait bust of Eleanor of Aragon by Francesco Laurana, and a fine collection of works by Sicily’s greatest artist, Antonello da Messina
