La Siciliana is located at the heart of Sicily’s ‘orange country’, close to the town of Ribera. The area is not only famous for producing fabulous oranges, but also for the beautiful nature reserve at the mouth of the river Platani, created in 1984 to protect its exquisite beaches, which remain among the most beautiful (and clean) in Sicily. With the Greek temples of Agrigento and Selinunte, the beaches of Torre Salsa and Scala dei Turchi, and the fascinating towns of Sciacca and Caltabellotta all in easy driving distance, La Siciliana is the perfect base for exploring the southwest of Sicily.

Surrounded by splendid orange groves and orchards, there villas has a wonderful view down a broad valley that runs towards the sea. The house is on two levels, ground and first floor. The lower floor is occupied by large and comfortable garden rooms – a spacious living room; a suite comprising a studio, double room and bathroom; and a perfectly equipped kitchen with living area. A light-flooded staircase leads up to the first floor, with four further bedrooms, two with ensuite bathroom, the other two sharing a recently built bathroom. Two rooms open directly onto a large panoramic terrace looking over a large swimming pool (13.5m x 6.6m) to the valley and the sea.

Adding to the atmosphere is the late 19th century rustic furniture chosen by the owners to emphasise the link between the house and rural Sicilian traditions.
Natural stone walls surround the grounds, which are divided into several distinctive zones. There is an external kitchen with hob, oven and sink and an adjacent dining area; another large terrace with breakfast table and conversation zone; and a large walled swimming pool surrounded by lawns. The fruits of the orchard are for guests to collect as they wish.

The atmosphere is a little retro – somewhere to enjoy the old fashioned holiday pleasures of relaxing, cooking good food, and exploring fabulous beaches, nature trails and some of the most famous ancient monuments in Sicily. As well as all that the best golf resort in Sicily is a short drive away.
