Extraordinary contemporary architect-designed
house with stunning sea-views and panoramic pool

” We should attempt to bring nature, houses and the human being to a higher unity” ( Ludwig Mies van der Rohe)

Inspired by the infinite views of the horizon across the Vendicari nature reserve and the sea,
Glasshouse is suffused with the light, the aromas and the silence of the Sicilian landscape.
Built in 2015, furnishings throughout are contemporary, enhancing an architectural design conceived as a dialogue between nature and architecture – for example in its use of both the sedimentary limestone of nearby Noto and the volcanic lavastone of Mount Etna.

There is a large living area with expansive sliding glass doors looking over the Nature Reserve and opening out onto a very distinctive pool area. The pool, lined with lava stone, was inspired by an Arab bath, with spots to laze in the water while chatting with friends who are lying on the poolside terraces.
All garden furniture is from the italian designer Paola Lenti and is of the highest quality.
Close to the pool, surrounded by very ancient prickly pears and olives trees, there is a panoramic terrace with lava stone dining table, covered in unique geometrical tiles by the modern design brand Made-a-Mano.
Al fresco dining table and a well-equipped outdoor kitchen and barbecue, the perfect place to cook summer dinners
The decking continues with a large motorized sun-blind for shade during the day. At night, this area is a magical spot for long ‘aperitivo’ under the moon and stars.

Inside, the Paola Lenti sofa guarantees amazing views and is also in off season the place to stay next to the lava stone fireplace.
A beautiful made-to-measure island kitchen dominates the space while large custom-made doors hide the appliances, the pantry and the sink.

The bedroom area of the house is designed to offer privacy as well as views, with oblong-glassed doors framing the sea. Each of the windows offers direct access to the garden with stunning views over the surrounding almond groves, salt lagoons and out to sea. Two of the bedrooms are double while the third is a flexible double/twin room, and all bedrooms have en-suite bathroom with shower. All bedrooms are airconditioned and have ceiling fans
Big sheet-metal sunscreens run along the façade, shaping and fragmenting the light in the warmest hours, as they allow the air to circulate, creating origami-like designs on the floor, like the texture of Arabian architecture.

Useful informations: Approximately 100 meters from the house is a second house, the owner also rented but in no way disturbs your privacy and tranquility. Each house has a completely separate garden and private pool. One electric gate to access both properties
