Once an eighteenth-century mansion, the renovation of this villa sought to maintain its original features, such as the antique exterior face of the building, while thoroughly adapting the space for a modern lifestyle, with comfortable and contemporary interiors.

The floors and finishings, in marble and other precious materials, as well as the thoughtful colour palette, give the space a luxurious and elegant atmosphere.

Apart from the large stairway, which provides the main access to the villa, there is also a convenient elevator which connects the parking area with the wellness salon (ground floor) and the living zone (first floor). The living zone includes a dining area with a generous oval table, a pleasant lounge area with a television and a window seat which looks out on the breathtaking views of Etna. The baby grand piano completes this harmonious space. From here, you’ll have direct access to three of the large en suite bedrooms.

One of the bedrooms has its own private furnished terrace, granting further views of Etna. From the other two bedrooms, you’ll be greeted with vistas of the sea and nearby Taormina.

A wide corridor connects to the other three en suite bedrooms: the first being a suite with a private terrace looking out on Etna, the second having access to the communal terrace and views of the sea, and the third, also a suite and also with access to the communal terrace. This last bedroom leads to a comfortable living room, complete with a sofa which converts to a single bed, the perfect set-up for parents and a child.

The terrace is perfectly designed for lively dinner parties surrounded by the exclusive panoramic views. You can reach the terrace through the well-furnished kitchen as well as the Sicilian-style stairway which leads to the parking spaces, the large swimming pool, and the solarium.

Walking through the garden, filled with shaded areas and plenty of outdoor furnishings where you can lie back and relax, you’ll find the covered and heated swimming pool, as well as the nearby wellness area complete with a sauna and a hydromassage jacuzzi.

From the wellness area, you’ll have direct access to the large living area via the elevator, a set-up which is particularly ideal for winter stays. Villa Gebel is the last word in comfort and elegance, whether you’re enjoying a summer holiday or cosying up for a winter break in Sicily.

Things to do

  • Explore Mount Etna with a private guide. Whether you want to explore in a jeep or on foot, we can’t emphasise how much more you will get out of a trip to Etna in the company of someone who understands its volcanology, geology and history.
  • Explore the Alcantara valley, formed by the Alcantara river carving its way through lava deposited by the eruption of Monte Moia around 2400BC.  There are lots of ways to explore, ranging from the gentle riverside walks from Francavilla di Sicilia, to river-trekking and canyoning.
  • Visit the the little hilltown of Castiglione di Sicilia, for its weathered houses, pantiled roofs and stunning views across the valley to Etna. Don’t miss the local cheesemakers, Alcantara Formaggi, on Via Federico II.
  • Spend a morning in Catania. See the Duomo and the nearby. fishmarket, the Pescheria, and visit the Museo Belliniano, dedicated to the city’s most famous son, opera composer Gioacchino Bellini.
  • The impressive Ciclopi’s Riviera between Aci Castello and Acireale.
