Eremo Ozioso is a traditional Sicilian baglio, or fortified manor house, which has been restored with great sensitivity to its original character and layout. Located on a hill, and suffused with the atmosphere of traditional rural Sicily, the Eremo is a place of utter peace and quiet, set in a wonderful landscape whose colours and intensities alter throughout the day with the changing light.

The house is furnished and decorated with a fascinating and eclectic selection of old family heirlooms and exotic North African finds. Like all Sicilian baglios, Eremo Ozioso is fortified, and is built in a square around an internal courtyard which today forms the true heart of the house, and it is here that you will probably spend most of your time.

The layout of the house remains typical, with a series of interconnecting rooms – two large reception rooms (a living room with TV, and a library), a dining room and a large and well-equipped kitchen. All have access to the courtyard, which includes a terrace, where a large table has been positioned to be perfect for long, cool, shady lunches. The other part of the ground floor is given over to four bedrooms, each with ensuite bathroom.

An internal staircase leads up to the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and private terrace overlooking the courtyard (which can also be accessed by an external staircase).

Completely separate from the main house is a dependence with a double bedroom with loft and a bathroom.

From the courtyard a short path leads between bushes of oregano and catmint to the swimming pool area, formed like a lake, and perfectly in harmony with the soft panoramic landscape of the Noto area.

We like

Living in absolute privacy and peace, doing nothing but absorbing the beauty and perfumes of the traditional Sicilian countryside.
Making wonderful day trips to the freshwater pools of Cava Grande and Cava Carosello, and to the splendid sandy beaches of Eloro and the Vendicari nature reserve.
Experiencing the elegant and lively evening life of Noto, or the quieter pleasures of the small (but very attractive) provincial town of Palazzo Acreide.

We think

Large groups of friends or family who want a holiday where they can combine lazy days around the home and pool, with days exploring the extraordinary beauties of the area’s landscapes and culture.

For anyone interested in experiencing the wonderful wines and cuisine of this area of Sicily.
For anyone who loves the sea, the countryside AND history, art and architecture.
