Dammuso Turchese
A jewel of a retreat on the island of Pantelleria
Located in Contrada Rekale, on a hillside sloping gently down towards the sea, Il Dammuso Turchese is a textbook example of how to perfectly restore a traditional Pantellerian dammuso in a contemporary key.
Huge sunny terraces – with shade under traditional canopies known as ducchene – along with a spacious solarium and a magnificent swimming pool (perfect for watching breathtaking sunsets), create a refuge that is perfect for anyone who wants to spend a holiday in an intimate, yet tasteful and elegant, home.
Turchese consists of two buildings connected by a patio.
The main building consists of a well-equipped kitchen (also accessible from outside); an ample salone with a typical Pantellerian vaulted ceiling and fireplace; a small study carved into an alcove; a TV room; and a romantic bedroom with its own comfortable bathroom with walls decorated in a style known as ‘tecnica della pastella’.
The second building consists of a large double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and huge walk-in closet.
All the furniture and furnishing have been selected by the owner, a well-known interior designer, to give guests the sensation of finding themselves in a place where every detail has been thought about and where nothing is left to chance. This really is a jewel!
The magnificent panoramic solarium
Enjoying the elegant interior – especially when there is a fierce sirocco wind!
Admiring sunsets from the swimming pool – and the brilliant starlit night sky.
The dammuso is ideal for two couple of friends who want a luxury retreat in Pantelleria
The main towns on the island are central Pantelleria and Scauri, which are the island’s two ports of arrival, but there are also little hamlets whose names still recall their Arab domination, such as Khamma, Kattibugale, Kariuscia and Bukkuram.
