Il Dammuso Arabo consists of 4 dammusos set among the typical Mediterranean maquis of the Rekhale valley. The first three are set on different levels, following the natural lay of the land, but all have fabulous views of the valley and the Nikà promontory.
The main house is composed of two large matrimonial suites with ensuite bathrooms, one  bedroom with a french bed and ensuite bathroom, a large living room with TV, sound system and a well-stocked library, a wine cellar, and an alcove that can be used as an extra sleeping area for two people( upon request). There is also a large and extremely well-equipped kitchen.
The second house, set a little downhill from the main house, comprises two large bedrooms each with ensuite bathroom. Both rooms look onto an outdoor terraces furnished with dining table and sofa. Also opening onto the terrace is the third dammuso, housing the kitchen. There is also and outdoor shower

The fourth dammuso contains the utility area.

In the grounds, spaces are organised for outdoor life, with two large ‘al fresco living areas’. One has a dining table for 14 people, the other is perfect for long lazy evenings under the stars. Set among the scented maquis and centuries-old olive trees is a solarium zone with heated infinity pool (13.5 x 4m) equipped with a system that allows you to swim against the current. There is also a shower and fridge, chaise longues and a canasta.
Completing the property is a barbeque, Arabic-style garden with citrus trees, a succulent garden, a vegetable garden and an orchard. The house is decorated with designer furniture, rugs and objects.

We like

Swimming against the current in the gorgeous swimming pool.
Living outside, immersed in the aromatic vegetation of the island, relaxing in one of the many different corners created precisely for that!
Taking a boat trip and swim in the crystalline waters of Pantelleria.
Dinner in one of the typical little restaurants in the pretty village of Scauri.

We think

The dammuso is ideal for anyone who loves islands and the luxury of simplicity.

  • Pantelleria centre 7,4 miles
  • Scauri harbour 3,1 miles
  • Pantelleria airport 6,2 miles

Things to do

The main towns on the island are central Pantelleria and Scauri, which are the island’s two ports of arrival, but there are also little hamlets whose names still recall their Arab domination, such as Khamma, Kattibugale, Kariuscia and Bukkuram.

  • The Favare (which emit aqueous vapour) or the stufe, natural grottos that emit high temperature water vapour and are found in the areas of Kazzen and Benikulà. There are also many thermal springs scattered across the island, such as the Lago di Venere, Cala Gadir and the Grotta di Sataria.
  • At Nikà there is a miniature ‘slide’ for boats, and thermal waters.
  • At Balata dei Turchi there is one of the island’s rare flat rocks.
  • At Martingana there is a bay which is almost always sheltered from the winds.
  • With its picturesque landscapes and variety of natural vegetation it offers visitors the unforgettable experience of nature walks (in the Montagna Grande Natural Park, the Passo del Vento trail, the Cuddia di Fossa del Russo and the Gibele Crater) and trips to a wide range of archaeological sites.
  • Tasting the extremely varied cuisine, which shows the influence of the various peoples who have dominated the island.
