A city oasis with large garden and pool

Marsala, TP

Villa Casadonna lies among vineyards on the edge of the city of Marsala, just a few kilometres from the historic centre of town, and two kilometres from the coast.
The villa is Mediterranean in style, private and secluded within a large garden planted with olives, carob trees and huge ficus – it really is a true oasis of peace!

In the garden is a large swimming pool (8 x 16 metres) tiled with typical Sicilian mosaics, and a large covered ‘relax-zone’ with comfortable chairs, dining area and barbeque.
Villa Casadonna has two floors with an atmosphere we can only describe as both welcoming and gracious.
On the ground floor is a large open space with living room, dining room and study, harmoniously furnished with family heirlooms, large paintings and objets d’arte. There is also a guest bathroom, double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and a large kitchen with larder and utliity room.
An elegant staircase leads to the upper floor with direct access to the garden. There’s a living area with a lovely stone fireplace, a billiards room, two double bedrooms with ensuite facilities, and a further two that share a bathroom.
On request an annexe by the swimming pool can also be rented (with one further bedroom). An extra single bedroom is also available in the main house.

We like

The large garden that makes the villa so private.
The swimming pool and surrounding.
Lovely sandy beach just 2 kilometres away.
Discovering the historic wineries of Marsala.
Taking a day trip by boat to the Egadi islands.
Exploring the fascinating island of Motya, the Greek temple of Segesta and the towns of Trapani and Erice.

We think

This is a large villa, and so is suitable for large groups of family or friends – unusually it is lovely and quiet, despite being so close to the centre of town.

Things to do

Some things not to miss in you are staying at Casadonna Villa.

  • The fantastically sited temples of Selinunte.
  • The historic town of Mazara del Vallo whose centre is reminiscent of an oriental kasbah – oh, and don’t miss the statue of the Dancing Satyr, discovered by fishermen, and now with its own dedicated museum.
  • The medieval town of Erice.
  • A day at Rocco Forte’s Verdura golf resort.
  • A day at La Pineta  at Marinella, a great lido with a very good restaurant.
  • Visits and tastings in the numerous wineries and olive oil farms.
