The palace was built — like the rest of Noto — after the original town was completely destroyed by an earth-quake in 1693. The new town — designed by Spanish-Sicilian aristocrat Giuseppe Lanza Duke of Camastra — is recognised as one of the finest examples of urban planning in Europe, earning Noto a significant place on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Recently restored, Noto has become one of the most fashionable and fascinat-ing destinations in Sicily.
The three-storey Palazzetto, covering around 250 square meters, has two reception rooms and two dining areas – a room inside for winter and outside on a romantic open loggia in summer. There are four bedrooms, two of which have freestanding clawfoot bathtubs, and four bathrooms. On the top floor is a terrace from which there are magnificent views over the Baroque town.

We like

We love the decor with its witty contemporary twists on traditional Baroque. Attention has been paid not only to every room, but to every element — from the multifaceted mirror, to a collection of candelabra and a model of a little white pick-up truck. Yet it is never over-cluttered!
The loggia with its views of a Baroque church — perfect for lunch and dinner from spring until early autumn.
Noto is beautiful, and has many other Baroque towns within easy reach. We love that the wild beaches of Vendicari are just down the road. We also loved exploring the ruins of Noto Antica and following a footpath along the river below it to river pools where we could swim.
Noto’s ice cream….it is stupendous!
The very special taxi service linked to the property – an Ape Taxi. An Ape is the traditional three-wheeler pickup truck used all over rural Sicily
